Baker Cheese is Recognized on History Channel’s Modern Marvels

Baker Cheese, a pioneer in string cheese production and one of the nation’s largest string cheese manufacturers, was recently featured on a very cheesy episode of Modern Marvels.

“We are thrilled to be highlighted on such a notable television show,” said Brian Baker, president of Baker Cheese. “We take pride in our award-winning string cheese and it’s very exciting to see it recognized by the team at Modern Marvels.”

In each hour-long episode of Modern Marvels, one of History Channel’s most popular series, host Adam Richman travels across the country to learn about the history, inspiration, and process behind the nation’s favorite and most nostalgic foods.

In this episode, Richman dives deep into the world of cheese, exploring the process of making mozzarella cheese in all its different forms.

He credits the nation’s love for mozzarella string cheese to Francis Baker, co-founder of Baker Cheese. In the 1970s, Francis recognized the growing demand for mozzarella cheese and explored how to stretch the cheese into a long rope and cut it into individual pieces – what we now call string cheese.

“Most of us are introduced to America’s favorite cheese as kids by peeling those long strips of string cheese and stuffing them in our mouths,” Richman said in the segment.

The episode goes on to review a brief history of string cheese and its transformation from bar food to the perfect healthy, kid-friendly snack, noting Baker Cheese as a trailblazer for string cheese branding and marketing.

“We’re proud of our history and proud of our string cheese,” said Brian Baker. “Being featured on this show is a testament to our quality products and the team members who work hard to meet the high standards we’ve set for ourselves since 1916.”

Baker Cheese continues to use its strong past as a foundation for its future. While the factory still sits at its original location, it has gone through three major expansions to keep up with customer demand.

The episode is currently streaming on several live streaming services and the History Channel’s website. So, sit back, grab a piece of string cheese, and enjoy the show!

Baker Cheese is a fourth generation, family-owned, string cheese manufacturer located in St. Cloud, Wisconsin. Through generations of innovation, we have maintained the key elements to create exceptional, award-winning natural string cheese.
