Baker Cheese is proud to announce that our low-moisture part-skim string cheese has been awarded 3rd place in the 2021 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest in the String Cheese Category.
Dairy manufacturers from around the state submitted 417 entries for the contest, which took place June 24th at Wisconsin State Fair Park. The contest featured 49 classes, including new classes for cheese curds, custard, edam, and gouda.
“Wisconsin is America’s Dairyland, and we were up against some of the top cheese manufacturers in the industry,” said Brian Baker, President of Baker Cheese. “This award could not have been achieved without the hard work from our cheesemakers and employees, and I am thankful for their dedication to creating our award-winning string cheese”.
Baker Cheese cheesemaker Dan Schwind was humbled to accept the award this year and credits the win to staying true to his historical cheesemaking knowledge while implementing modern technology.
The Wisconsin State Dairy Products Contest
The Wisconsin State Dairy Products Contest celebrates licensed dairy manufacturing facilities across the State of Wisconsin. The competition searches for the best of the best in dairy products and determines the top products in regards to texture, structure, and flavor profile.
The 2021 Grand Master Cheesemaker, Grand Champion Butter, Grand Champion Yogurt, Grand Champion Sour Cream, and Grand Champion Milk will be announced at the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Thursday, August 12 at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
